New Digs, New Gig
dsimmer — Thu, 06/05/2008 - 13:25
For those who don't know, I was hired on as Youth Minister at my church as of June 1 (the church website looks awful, I had nothing to do with it).
The cool thing about the new gig is that I've been able to do some rebranding of the program, including a new website. The old website, available here, had some shortcomings to say the least. Thanks to Drupal, however, I've been able to build a new website in a short period of time. I know some of the Twitterers have taken a look at it, but I'd like to ask those of you out there to check it out as well and give me some feedback. The new site, available here, is open for your critique.
BlogExplosion No Longer Holds its Own

Several years ago, I signed up with many of the blog networks to try to earn traffic to my website (at the time, I was running a Blogger account). Occasionally I will log in to earn traffic/exchange links, but frankly I haven't used these tools much in the past two years. Which brings me to last month:
URLs had moved, galleries had been updated, so I figured it was time to update the networking sites too. Most of them were a breeze, administrators replied, and off I skipped to watch Mr. Rogers reruns. After all, it is a beautiful day in his neighborhood. But then, BAM, I noticed that BlogExplosion was not updating my blog. In fact, it was "awaiting administrator approval." Why? Because the URL slightly changed, I suppose. Suddenly PBS lost my interest and I began sending messages and keeping track for once to see how long it took to reply. Turns out, nobody wanted to get back with me from BE, so here we sit, a month later, still feigned and rejected by a site that used to love me. And what did I do? You don't like the new website design? Is that it?
Boo you BlogExplosion, boo you for throwing me to the curb. Or whatever you did.*
*Frankly I'm not even mad, I think it's kinda funny that apparently no one works there anymore and they don't care to shut down their service.
